The Diva's Weekly Challenge #197: UMT Arukas
I like Arukas very much. It's so "christmassy". So I tangled two tiles and I'm very happy with both. Normally I would tend to one or the other, but I can't really say which one I prefer. So I give the task to you! Let me know what you think.

Thank you so much for looking by and for showing your interest.

Today is Saint Nicholas Day. It's a tradition here in Switzerland to bake little guys called "Grittibänz" for this day. Each member of the family gets one. And we will eat them for breakfast with butter and honey or jam. Look at them - they are so funny this year: big and sturdy.

If you want to try it:

500 g flour
1 1/2 teaspoon salt

mix it well

60 g butter (melted)
3 - 3 1/2 dl milk (lukewarm)
20 g fresh yeast or
one bag dried yeast for 500 g flour
1 tablespoon sugar (for the yeast)

mix it with the flour and knead it well until the dough is smooth. Then put it in a warm place and let it double. It takes 30 to 60 minutes. Then knead the dough again and form the guys. Bake them with 200 C in the oven for 20 - 25 minutes.
This Zendala will be my Chrstmas Greeting Card for my beloved ones.

It's been a while since I tangled for the diva's challenge. It was a busy time recently and I was'nt tangling a lot, but I always had a look what' the diva's challenges were.
This is for the challenge #196 All dolled up. I had this idea a few days ago when I was thinking about Christmas cards ideas. I like this cute angel looking into the sky. I also like the new Arukas tangle. It comes right for Christmas!

The Diva's Weekly Challenge # 179: Be like Bijou

First of all a warm welcome to Bijou the new member of the Zentangle Family.
The Challenge was to tangle on tiny Bijou tiles (5x5cm). It was really special, because I tend to bigger formats. But as usual it was fun to sit down and slow down, breath and follow the the strokes.

I had a quick look to all your contributions on the diva's site: they are all awesome and very inspiring, but please apologise for not commenting a lot. I cant 'find the time quite now.

Have a good time and be well!

I'm slowly recurring from the summer break. It was a nice break although the weather here in Switzerland is terrible. Rain, rain and again rain. There are flooded villages and a lot of damage all over the country. My thoughts are with the people who are affected.

The Diva's Weekly Challenge #178: The Challenge was to create a Duotangle with Tangles beginning with the initials of your name. So I chose two Tangles, Cyme and Emingle, created by Maria and Rick of Zentangle, in honour of the 10th birthday of Zentangle.

The Diva's Weekly Challenge: Duotangle Auraknot and Mooka:
Two Tangles I love. What a fun!
I missed the last challenge, but this week I got the time to tangle away. The weather isn't so hot as last week, my garden is in a good state. So let's tangle. Now I will have a look at all your contributions for the challenge. I'm very curious.

The Diva's Weekly Challenge was an UMT (Use My Tangle) Challenge. The tangle was Bugles. First of all I must admit I wasn't very motivated to tangle. Somehow Bugles couldn't inspire me. And than I really had other things to do. Especially my vegetable garden. I planted fennel, celery stalks, cabbage turnip (kohlrabi), Swiss chard, salad, runner beans and sowed beetroot. And there was a lot of weed too.
But I couldn't give in to my unmotivated mood about Bugles. So I tangled away and then this Zendala growed out of my pen.

This one is for Adele Bruno's It's a string thing #43.
I couldn't get the in-and-out look of Huggins as I wished. It looks a bit plain. It's not quite how I had it in mind, but it was as always fun to draw and experiment with my pens.

The Diva's Weekly Challenge #169 was Circles. I like circles a lot and it was fun to draw. I would like to do a ZIA with circles if I find the time this week. Perhaps on Ascension Day if the weather is rainy.

I had another tile for the Diva's Rain Challenge, but was too late to put it in. It's somehow a weird tile and I'm not sure what I shall think about it.

Enjoy Ascension Day if you don't have to work and happy tangling.

This is my second entry to the Diva's circle challenge. For the first time I used my coloured pencils also for shading. I'm quite satisfied with the result.

I feel much better, the cold is gone and my mood is high - yippie!!!

The Diva's Weekly Challenge was to use the Pattern Rain, so I did a quick ATC. Perhaps I have later this week time for a bigger tile.

Last week I made this thank-you-card for a friend, who invited us (the regional team for the yearly Womens World Day of Prayer) to a Moroccan dinner and to show her photographs of her desert-trip last autumn. It was a very nice evening, the meal was very tasty and the pictures of the desert were gorgeous and my wanderlust was rising.

Then I decided that this ZIA is finished. I experimented with some metallic markers and wasn't sure if I should colour the background. But finally I took the decision to let it be as it is.

I wish you a lot of sun this week and happy tangling.

Dienstag, 13. Mai 2014

Last week ended with a sore throat and this week began with coughing and sneezing. Yesterday I thought I'm in no mood for tangling. Then I started regardless and produced this tile. I'm quite happy with it. Now I hope this nasty cold passes soon.
I hope you all feel better than me in this moment and wish you a happy week.

Sonntag, 11. Mai 2014

I have just finished this ZIA. I was inspired by Art Lady Kate ( for the ATC.  And then I thougt I could put it in the middle of a ZIA and tangle around. So that's what came out.

It's a string thing #39: String 036 and patterns with M like Makramee, Meer, Msst and Mooka, in honour of Yamit Fridman who created the string.

I submit my tile also to the weekly challenge #7 of madebyjoey see             here: The challenge was to emphasize the string. The string in my tile is the darker tendrils and the keeko-part of Mak-rah-mee and the left border of Meer.

I began tangling after having finished my preparation for tomorrows religion class. I'm philosophing with the children (11,12 years old) about the soul. So my thoughts were still in this soul-theme and it occurred to me what a soul-pampering thing zentangling is, isn'it. I'm so grateful for this gift.

The Diva's Weekly Challenge #166: UMT (Use my tangle)
We had to use Laura's tangle with yet no name. See here:
Laura's tangle reminds me of my chemistry lessons about molecules and atoms. So my suggestion for its name is moleca

In my tile you can see a window that gives you a look behind the things you can see and touch, a look behind where only molecules and atoms exists... and far beyond and yet in every thing ... God.

I wasn't happy with the shading, so I shaded the inner part and cleared a bit of the shading in the outer part.

I wish you all a happy tangling week. And thank you for your comments.

I just finished this Zia. Sometimes I like to tangle without a string so my patterns can grow freely
In this Zia I began with Mooka, then added Axlexa, Fandango, Barney, Pozer, Quib, Floatfest, Coaster, Fluke, Fengle, Betweed, Fern and Keeko. I don't know the name of the tangle between Fengle and Coaster.

The Diva's Weekly Challenge #165:
When a mistake generates a tile: That could be the title of my tile. But I don't say where the mistake is or was. lol. And anyway there are no mistakes in Zentangle. As always it was fun to work with a new pattern.

A new tile for Adele Brunos "It's a string thing #37". Have a look here:

This challenge was big fun, because I like curvy strings.

The Diva's Weekly Challenge # 164: Earth Day
My tile shows the four elements: Earth, Wind (Plants), Fire and Water. In the middle is a cell, the first kind of creature, which we all come from. (Sorry, that's difficult to explain in English). The little snails all over the tile shall be a sign, that all creatures on earth depends on each other and that we have to care for each other.

I wish you a happy Easter and a funny successful search after your Easter bunnies and eggs!

I had a bit more time to tangle than usual. The next week will be a busy one, so I'm not sure if I will have time for tangling.

Playing with Rixty and the new tangle Lola by Sandy Hunter (see here:

That's my tile for Adele Brunos "Its a String Thing #36. We had to use the patterns Bunzo, Bubbles, Buttercup and Bucky. Bucky, I think, will never be one of my favourite tangles and somewhere between the lines I lost hopelessly control. Thanks to the shading you can not easily see it. But therefore this challenge is so interesting, because we had to use patterns we will never have used then.

Montag, 14. April 2014

My husband and I had a week off and went camping in the south-western part of Germany near Freiburg. It was heaven and the weather very sunny and warm. We did a lot of walking and shopping and sightseeing.

Yesterday I played around with the new tangle rixty. Somehow I thought it would soon be up for a new challenge. So I have already a Zia for the weekly Diva's Challenge.
There is indeed a totally misshapened Y-flip but somehow it looks funny and I like it nevertheless. Unfortunately my scanner changed the dark blue into black. The real colours are dark blue and cyan. I found some nice coloured Pitt artist pens in a little shop in Staufen.

Thank you for stopping by and have a nice week.

Donnerstag, 3. April 2014

That's my tile for Adele Brunos "It's a string thing" #34. We had to use string 029 by Sue Zanker and the patterns Sanibelle, Snag, Shattuck and Sandswirl. This time i'm not so pleased with my tile, but it was fun to tangle.

The Diva's Weekly Challenge # 161: Quandary

Few months ago i tangled a tile with quandary (see some older tangles) and i had no problem with this tangle. But this time...I don't know what it was. I started three times and couldn't get into the usual Zentangle flow. A quandary. But finally i got it. And i'm quite pleased.

A tiny landscape inspired by the book "Time to tangle with colors" by Marie Browning, CZT
Outside it's snowing and raining and it's wintery cold again. And it's nice to sit and tangle and to be sure that spring is here anyway.

Playing with color pens:

For once a classical Zentangle tile:

That one is for Adeles "It's a string thing #32 (see the link Tickled To Tangle on the right side).
We had to use tangles with "w" and "r" in the name and a string created by Jadie Wright.

The Diva's Weekly Challenge #159: Top O' the Morning in honour of St. Patrick's Day. You can find her link on the right side.

I chose tangles beginning with a P for Patrick: Paradox, Prestwood, Pavonia, Pepper, Phicops, Popsicle, Pippin, Paizel, Piza, Pais and Paushalöv and then slipped a bit of Marasu in ;-)

It was an occasion to remember my and my husband's first holiday as a couple 28 years ago in Ireland (oh my, we are married 26 years this summer). I remember the lush greens in such varieties I've never seen since. And the change of the light when the wind drove the clouds over the sky, so marvellous. We had the VW-Bus my dad had converted in a mobile home and we felt so adventurous and we were so young....

Adele Bruno's challenge: It's a string thing #31
This is my first contribution to this challenge. In honour of Rick Roberts birthday and St. Patrick's Day we had to use the patterns Paradox by Rick Roberts and Lucky by Adele Bruno.

The Diva's Weekly Challenge #158:

Duotangle Crescent Moon and Diva Dance

This is my second attempt. The first one wasn't what I had in mind.

It's springtime!
We did a tour (25 km) on our bicycles. It was the first this year. Last year the first was sometime in June! So my tangle represents spring.
I did another one today and experimented with new brushpens, but I ruined it. The pens were too dark.

The Diva's Weekly Challenge #157: Charlie

I'm happy about the challenges because I often don't know how to start and with which tangles. So the Diva takes most of the decision.

Thank you so much for all your nice comments.

Diva's Challenge # 156

Tangle: Sindoo
I'm not yet sure about my shading!

That was a really busy sunday creating this blog. I had no clue about blogs. But now I'm really happy with it.

That one was for the Diva's Weekly Challenge #155: A little white space
